College Accreditation

One of the first things to look at when researching different chiropractic programs is accreditation. Accreditation encourages confidence that the education provided meets acceptable levels of quality. Attending colleges accredited by accreditors "recognized" by the U.S. Department of Education provides for eligible students to have access to federal financial aid, and assists with entrance to a profession by allowing students to take certification exams, which is required for licensing. Northeast holds all necessary accreditations needed for you to be a recognized doctor of chiropractic.

  • Northeast College of Health Sciences was granted an Absolute Charter by the New York State Board of Regents on behalf of the New York State Education Department of the University of the State of New York.
  • Northeast College of Health Sciences Doctor of Chiropractic degree program is registered by the New York State Education Department of the University of the State of New York.
  • Northeast College of Health Sciences is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, (276) 284-5000. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

While ensuring a college holds the right institutional and programmatic accreditation necessary, it's also important to look into what each program offers beyond the degree. At Northeast, our Doctor of Chiropractic program is designed to give you a science-based, evidence-informed professional foundation.

Admissions Requirements

Chiropractic colleges have specific requirements to meet before being admitted to a program. These requirements help ensure students' academic success. It's important to understand what each college requires and how you might meet those guidelines. Most chiropractic programs require 3 years (90 credit hours) of undergraduate study. At Northeast College of Health Sciences (Northeast), our prospective students must also have successfully completed a minimum of 24 credit hours in life and physical science courses; these science courses provide a background for success in the program. As well, Northeast students must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), demonstrating that they are prepared for the academic rigor of graduate study. Northeast College of Health Sciences Doctor of Chiropractic candidates for admissions must also possess goals, abilities, and character that are consistent with the program's mission.

Academic Support

When planning for your journey to becoming a chiropractor, also consider the support you might need along the way. At Northeast, students are supported by knowledgeable faculty and a doctor-driven clinical model that ensures that no matter where a student completes their training, they are always working with a doctor of chiropractic. Northeast's practical, evidence-based curriculum will enable you to graduate as a well-prepared, competent healthcare provider who combines a scholarly perspective with extensive real-world experience.

Student Success

Looking at student success rates when researching various chiropractic programs could be an insight into your future. High board exam scores and graduation rates are often indicative of an excellent program. In 2019, Northeast had a 97 percent pass rate for students who took the recent National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) Part IV exam, which is higher than the national average. Northeast's student performance reflects the quality of instruction and clinical preparation received throughout the Doctor of Chiropractic program. Northeast's Doctor of Chiropractic program also holds a graduation rate of 93.4 percent.

Career Support

Whether your dream is starting a chiropractic practice of your own, working in a specialized practice, or teaching at a college near you, it could be helpful college career services that get you there. Look carefully at your prospective college's successful alumni stories, career development resources, and prep courses before selecting a program . At Northeast, every student's success is important; that's why we prepare each graduate with the education, business acumen, and network to get you where you want to be.

Financing

While both direct (tuition and fees) and indirect (room & board and books and supplies etc.) program costs may vary depending on the institution, it's important to weigh all of your financial options when conducting your research. Many programs offer scholarships and loan opportunities that can lower the out-of-pocket cost.

Location

The location of a college can change the course of your educational experience. At Northeast, we pride ourselves on being nestled in the heart of New York State's Finger Lakes region. Our campus community holds a passion for wellness, nature, and all things science. There's an adventure here for every season: hiking, biking, fishing, boating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and more.

When trying to find the right chiropractic program for you, it's important to look at all aspects of the institution -- not only the outcome of the program but also the costs, location, and post-graduation success rate. Researching these different aspects of a program can help you determine which is right for you and your chiropractic journey.
