Meet Marilyn Holbeck
Dr. Marilyn Holbeck is a fall 2017 graduate of New York Chiropractic College’s Master of Science in Human Anatomy and Physiology Instruction Program. After attending SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Buffalo, she earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic, and has been practicing since 1980. She specializes in Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), with a focus on craniopathy, and uses homeopathy, flower remedies, and soft-tissue work.
When Dr. Holbeck decided to pursue a second career in teaching, she chose NYCC’s MSHAPI program because the online format would not interfere with her full-time practice. While she found it challenging to adapt to an online learning platform, she was grateful for the support she received from the NYCC faculty and staff who encouraged her to not give up. Sure enough, she succeeded! In fact, while still enrolled in the MSHAPI program, she was offered an adjunct faculty position at George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia. She is currently teaching a 400 level A&P lab.
Dr. Holbeck loves teaching and finds it incredibly rewarding to share in the excitement of her students when they have an “aha!” moment. The knowledge that she has gained in the MSHAPI program has helped her a great deal to add her own spin to the lecture slides. Additionally, because of the program she understands how important it is to give students the opportunity to learn from each other, and loves being able to provide the students with clinical anecdotes since many of them are headed into healthcare fields. Dr. Holbeck’s passion for teaching has only increased since completing the MSHAPI Program, and she looks forward to using it as she continues her career in education.
