Meet Amanda Press
Amanda Press is a current second-trimester chiropractic student at NYCC. She began her journey into the healthcare field by first attending West Virginia University where she completed a dual degree in Biology and Psychology in 2014. After graduating, Amanda worked at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center as a research assistant in a genetics immunology lab, where she induced a variety of diseases in transgenic mice.
Research was an attractive field to Amanda because of the possibility of being able to uncover pivotal information. Amanda decided to pursue chiropractic career following a battle with illness. She began consulting with a chiropractor for both manual manipulation and nutritional care. The nutritional care provided by her chiropractor was an integral part of her recovery. This interaction and her chiropractor’s genuine concern for her overall health inspired her to follow in the same career path; and thus began her journey at NYCC.
Originally from the small town of Bedford, Pennsylvania, Amanda chose NYCC for her higher education degree because of the attractiveness of the location and the variety of options for master’s programs. She is especially interested in the Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition program and hopes to enroll in the near future. She finds the campus and student body to be part of NYCC’s charm. She also likes the professors and appreciates their efforts to know students beyond the classroom. Her favorite teacher is Dr. Mary Balliett, with her real-world application of the subjects she presents in class.
Happily married since 2015, Amanda currently lives in Seneca Falls and enjoys playing tennis. After she graduates in 2020, she plans to open a practice that combines chiropractic and nutrition. At some point in the future, she would also like to incorporate research into her career.
