AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Use algorithmic reasoning when determining technical factors to obtain quality images.
- Practice “As Low As Reasonably Achievable” (ALARA) standards for the patient, self, and others.
- Position the patient and imaging systems to perform optimum sonographic examinations on patients.
- Use effective non-verbal, oral, and written communication on patient care and comfort, patient education, and professional relationships.
- Exercise critical thinking and discretion in the technical performance of medical imaging procedures, consistent with current standards of practice.
- Support cultural/social awareness when providing medical imaging procedures.
- Appraise patient information from multiple sources to perform medical imaging procedures consistent with the scope of practice.
- Appreciate the importance of life-long learning for the purpose of maintaining current standards of practice.

Applications received by February 1 will be given priority consideration. Applications received after February 1 will be reviewed on a space-available basis.
- Submit an application with a letter of recommendation.
- Have completed and passed high school and/or college courses in biology and algebra.
- Interview with Program Director may be required.

Northeast College Admissions does not require the SAT or ACT. Applicants who do not submit SAT/ACT scores will not be at a disadvantage in the admissions process.
Students enrolled in our imaging sciences programs are also required to have:
- Reliable transportation to/from clinical sites and assignments.
- A paid CastleBranch account for immunization record keeping and required New York State background check.
- A campus meal plan. (For the 2024-2025 academic year: $900/trimester for students living on campus, $300/trimester for commuter students.)
- An iPad that meets technical specifications provided by Program Director.
*Note: Imaging Sciences clinical placements may be 120 miles or more from Northeast’s main Seneca Falls Campus, including potentially outside of New York state.
