NYCC Welcomes Students to Winter 2020 Trimester
New York Chiropractic College welcomed both new and returning students today as the Winter 2020 Trimester began, including students beginning their studies in the College's chiropractic and nutrition programs.
The day before each trimester begins, new chiropractic students are greeted with a day-long orientation, featuring overviews of the many available support services and student resources, as well as a lunch with faculty and staff.
"You will become an important part of the health sciences," said Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Anne Killen, addressing new students during the welcome luncheon. "At NYCC you will be given the tools and background to achieve these aspirations and most importantly through your educational journey you are going to become a healer."
NYCC Student Leader Offers Advice to New Students
During Winter 2020 orientation, new DC students mingled on the Seneca Falls campus, meeting new professors and classmates while receiving a quick immersion into life at the College.
NYCC President Michael Mestan introduced Student Government Association Executive President Callan Carnahan (DC '21), who provided students with advice on how to make the most of life at NYCC:
- Be involved. Go to club meetings, see what piques your interest and learn as much as you can about this profession.
- Be intrigued. Ask questions and ask them often. Have an open mind about learning.
- Be humble. You are going to be learning a lot of new info and often all at once. Prioritize your time and use your resources. You won't be a genius at everything and that's OK.
"I can promise you that everyone here has your best interest in mind," said Carnahan. "You are learning from the best of the best."
