NYCC Welcomes Initial Students Back to Campus
New York Chiropractic College has begun to reopen its doors to students, who return to campus to participate in the hands-on portion of their education.
The NYCC campus and health centers have been closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, in accordance with New York State guidelines, the College has begun a safe, measured return and reopening of its facilities.
On June 29, seventh-trimester students returned to the Seneca Falls campus to work in the Campus Health Center. Soon after, sixth-trimester students were invited back to campus in two groups, arriving on July 6 and July 13.
NYCC Moving Forward
Everyone coming to campus completes a required daily health screening and temperature check upon entry, as NYCC takes the needed steps to ensure the safety of their College community as well as meet the reopening criteria implemented by New York State.
In addition to adopting new adjusted class schedules to manage density and potential contact, NYCC has also worked to fully maximize its campus, using large-open spaces as new physically-distanced technique labs.
"As we continue our return to on-campus, hands-on instruction, classes look and operate differently from the past. We realize this may be challenging at first; however, it is our College's innovative action that has kept us moving safely forward," said NYCC President Dr. Michael Mestan. "While much is changing around us, our steadfast commitment to academic excellence remains. This includes the all-important health and safety of our entire community. We are extremely thankful for everyone for their persistence and dedication in navigating these new times together."
The NYCC Campus Safety Reopening Plan sets forth a blueprint for the many steps the College is taking to help ensure a safe return to campus. Working groups, containing members from across the College community, will continue to monitor the ongoing health crisis and related best practices, and make necessary adjustments and updates to the plan as the situation evolves.
All of NYCC's Doctor of Chiropractic students are expected to arrive back in Seneca Falls prior to final exams, which begin August 3 and will be conducted online. This August return will position returning D.C. students to be ready for an early, adjusted Fall 2020 start on August 11. New incoming Chiropractic students will begin their first trimester of study on September 9.
