NYCC Sends Contingent to NCLC Annual Conference
Every year, the NYCC chapter of the Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) travels to Washington, D.C., to attend the National Chiropractic Legislative Conference and advocate before Congress to advance the chiropractic profession and protect the interests of our patients. This year's event, held January 16-19, was particularly important, since among the many critical issues addressed with our members of Congress was improving Medicare reimbursement for chiropractic services.
Thirty bright and dedicated NYCC students, along with instructors and administrators from the College, joined hundreds of other chiropractors and chiropractic students from around the country to advocate for more widespread acceptance and funding for chiropractic treatment.
Students also had the opportunity to attend postgraduate and continuing education programs presented by some of the profession's leaders on topics that included evidence in practice, the highest standards of ethics and patient care, and best practices in practice management.
At the conference, NYCC Chancellor Dr. Kenneth Padgett received the ACA Lifetime Achievement Award, and NYCC-SACA President James Walters (D.C. '19) was elected to SACA national chair, continuing the tradition of NYCC students in SACA National leadership positions.
