NYCC Represented by Students at Leading Chiropractic Conferences

From Baltimore to Berlin, students from New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) were present at two premiere chiropractic conferences this year. 

Featuring cutting-edge research, inspirational speakers and networking opportunities, the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Research Agenda Conference (ACC-RAC) and the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) Biennial Congress exist to support, empower, promote and advance chiropractors and the chiropractic profession.

Students Awarded Trip to WFC Biennial Congress

For NYCC students Andrew Sorensen (D.C. '19) and Nathan Waara (D.C. '19) the opportunity to attend the WFC Biennial Congress in Berlin, Germany was the chance of a lifetime.

One of the most prestigious chiropractic conferences in the world, the Congress was titled EPIC2019 and focused on evidence-based, patient-centered, inter-professional and collaborative approaches to spine care — all methods very much in line with the NYCC philosophy and vision.

NYCC is pleased to acknowledge academic excellence, like that demonstrated by Andrew and Nathan throughout their ongoing research that ultimately may benefit patients with lumbar stenosis. "We are forever grateful to Dr. Burke and NYCC for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Andrew.

Impressed with their dedication to their research, Dean of Research Dr. Jeanmarie Burke first asked Andrew and Nathan if they would create an abstract to submit to the Institutional Review Board. They did, and it was accepted. Burke also made the recommendation to send the research team to Berlin.

"It really was a reward for their academic excellence and commitment," said Dr. Burke, who mentored them. Andrew and Nathan are currently interviewing new students to carry on their research at NYCC, as the two are set to graduate this fall.

New York Chiropractic College Well Represented at ACC- RAC

Well attended by NYCC students, faculty and staff, the 2019 Association of Chiropractic Colleges Research Agenda Conference (ACC-RAC), held this past March in Baltimore, Maryland, celebrated its 26th year of leading chiropractic educational advancement.

NYCC student representatives Ashley Williams (D.C. '20), Jillian Campbell (D.C. '19), and Adam Trainor (D.C. '18) attended topical workshops and platform sessions, as well as managed the registration desk. For Ashley, the conference expanded her understanding of the possibilities within chiropractic care. "It was exciting to speak with researchers about subjects they are passionate about, I felt energized when I came back to campus."
