NYCC Graduates 39 New Doctors of Chiropractic
New York Chiropractic College hosted its Winter 2018 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the NYCC Standard Process Health and Fitness Center.
During the event, 39 graduates took the Chiropractic Oath and received their Doctor of Chiropractic degrees. This degree is earned after 10 trimesters (15 weeks each) of study, including courses in areas like biochemistry, gross anatomy, neuroscience, nutrition, and business management, as well as extensive hands-on clinical experience and research.
During the ceremony a number of awards were given to graduating students for excellence in community service, leadership, and clinical practice. Graduates were also addressed by NYCC alumnus Rick Rosa, D.C. '96. Dr. Rosa is a former NYCC faculty member and current member of the Board of Trustees. He currently owns and operates 13 clinics in the Washington, D.C. area and is the founder of RecoveryDoc, a consulting company specializing in care of professional athletes. Dr. Rosa has worked with hundreds of amateur and professional athletes, including six World Champion boxers, seven World Champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors and four National Cycling Champions, and was the first chiropractor in the corner of a Heavyweight boxing world championship fight.
The ceremony was also the site of the 93rd Annual Convocation of the American College of Chiropractors (ACA), during which ACA President Dr. Serge Nerli appointed four NYCC alumni as Fellows: Dr. Wendy L. Maneri '99, Dr. Jason G. Napuli '03, Dr. Kristina Petrocco-Napuli '03, and Dr. Rick Rosa '96.
