Northeast College of Health Sciences hosted its Winter 2025 Ceremony Week, holding three rites of passage to advance 74 chiropractic students and celebrate their achievements. The Commitment to Excellence Pledge event was held on March 25, and Transitions Ceremony on March 27. Winter 2025 Commencement, featuring the annual convocation of the American College of Chiropractors, was held on March 29.

Thirty-two new doctors of chiropractic received their diplomas during Northeast’s Winter 2025 Commencement ceremony. Student Government Association Executive President William Sayre (D.C. ’25) spoke to his peers in delivering the student address. “To help people is a privilege,” he said.

The class of 2025 graduated with doctorates after 10 trimesters of study, including courses such as biochemistry, gross anatomy, neuroscience, nutrition, and business management, as well as extensive hands-on clinical experience and research. As noted during the ceremony by College Trustee Virginia Robbins, J.D., “(Students) are powerfully prepared for a bright and successful future.”

Global Chiropractic Leader Presents Commencement Address

Dr. Arlan W. Fuhr, founder and chairman of Activator Methods International, established over 50 years ago, delivered the Winter 2025 Commencement address. The Activator Method is one of the most widely used instrument-adjusting chiropractic techniques globally.

In his address, Fuhr emphasized that “getting people well is the key.” He reflected on meaningful moments, mentors and mentees he has had throughout his career. He also highlighted the importance of taking initiative and giving back to the community.

"Do what you can, when you can do it," advised Fuhr. “Contribute back to your profession. That’s where the fun is. That’s what I’ve tried to do all my life, contribute back.”

Northeast fellows honored

During the Commencement ceremony, the College hosted the annual Convocation of the American College of Chiropractors (ACC). Commencement speaker Dr. Fuhr was honored as one of five new fellows during this presentation, which was also the ACC’s 100th meeting.

Also receiving the prestigious title of Fellow of the American College of Chiropractors (FACC) during the ceremony were Northeast alumni Christopher Amato (D.C. ’96), Zachary Cupler (D.C. ’14, M.S. ‘15) and Northeast Associate Professor Alexandra Fiore (D.C. ’15, M.S. ’22, BPS ‘15), as well as Dr. Karlos Boghosian. The FACC distinction recognizes advanced knowledge and commitment to the chiropractic profession.

Commitment to Excellence Pledge Event

The Commitment to Excellence Pledge event, recognizing first-trimester students as they begin their chiropractic education, kicked off Winter 2025 Ceremony Week on March 25. Seventeen chiropractic students took the pledge to excellence, vowing dedication to their future profession and patients. Northeast College President Dr. Michael Mestan presented each student with a pin reading “Excellence. Professionalism. Leadership.”, reflecting the College mission.

During Northeast College's Winter 2025 Transitions Ceremony, 25 seventh-trimester chiropractic students received their official white coats, signifying the start of their outpatient clinical education. To successfully reach this milestone on their path to becoming doctors, Northeast students must complete over two years of training in foundational sciences, clinical sciences, integrated chiropractic therapies and principles of chiropractic practice, followed by a hands-on clerkship in the campus health center.

Awards for excellence in academics and leadership were presented at both the Transitions Ceremony and Commencement, with several graduates also receiving awards for excellence in clinical practice.
