Northeast College and Canisius University Partner to Extend Academic Opportunities
Northeast College of Health Sciences and Canisius University are pleased to announce a new educational partnership. The collaboration guarantees that Canisius students, who meet specific program requirements while earning bachelor’s degrees in sports and exercise healthcare or health and wellness, can seamlessly transition into Northeast’s Doctor of Chiropractic Program.
The accelerated 4+3 option enables students to earn their bachelor’s degree from Canisius and doctorate degree from Northeast a full year earlier than it would take to earn each degree separately, saving students time and money. In addition, Canisius students are eligible for merit scholarships from Northeast based on their academic standings.
Partners in Preparing Students for Future in Healthcare
“With job growth in allied healthcare professions projected to grow faster than average in the next 10 years, Canisius is excited to partner with Northeast College to offer students a clear and accessible pathway to graduate study in chiropractic care,” says Karl Kozlowski, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Kinesiology at Canisius.
"We are honored to partner with Canisius University to create academic opportunities for even more students and provide pathways that will allow them to seamlessly enter our Doctor of Chiropractic Program," adds Northeast College President Michael Mestan, EdD. "We look forward to welcoming Canisius students who want to become future doctors and leaders in healthcare.”
The Canisius University Department of Kinesiology administers both the sports and exercise health care program and the health and wellness program, as well as an undergraduate minor in strength and conditioning and a master’s degree program in exercise science. Students take coursework in human anatomy and physiology, with a focus on human motion, injury recognition, exercise science and psychology, and participate in upwards of 240 hours of clinical experience. They graduate fully prepared to apply research and clinical practice to optimize the health of people from all walks of life.
