New York Chiropractic College Celebrates Centennial
New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) is pleased to announce it is celebrating the hundredth anniversary of its founding throughout 2019.
In 1919 Dr. Frank Dean founded the Columbia Institute of Chiropractic (CIC), which in the 1970s became New York Chiropractic College. In 1991 NYCC purchased the 286-acre Eisenhower College campus in Seneca Falls, NY, and moved to its current expanded location. Health clinics, designed to serve their broader regional communities, were also added in locations including Seneca Falls, NY; Depew, NY; and Levitttown, NY; and collaborations with organizations such as the Veterans Administration ensured diverse opportunities for clinical education. NYCC currently admits students in a number of programs of study, including Doctor of Chiropractic, Master of Science in Clinical Anatomy, Master of Science in Diagnostic Imaging, Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition (online), Master of Science in Sports Nutrition (online), and Master of Science in Human Anatomy and Physiology Instruction (online).
Centennial celebrations will kick off on January 10, 2019, with a "Cheers to 100 Years!" event for NYCC students, faculty and staff, on the Seneca Falls campus. Other Centennial events will be held through the year, including a conference in September at which alumni, practicing health professionals, and current students are invited to expand their knowledge through a series of educational presentations and symposia.
As well, the College will be offering commemorative bricks for alumni, current NYCC community, and friends of the College to sponsor. The bricks will be engraved with the supporter's name and the NYCC Centennial logo, and will be installed on campus as a tribute to the College's 100th birthday.
New York Chiropractic College President Dr. Michael Mestan says, "While times have certainly changed from 1919, our commitment to optimal health has not. Looking to the future, we as a culture are aware as never before that our decisions can profoundly affect our wellness. Through scientifically sound, evidence-based practice, NYCC trains healthcare professionals to aid and empower others in their quest for a full and healthy life. We at NYCC are pleased and proud to reach this milestone in the College's history, and we look forward to the next hundred years of academic excellence, leadership, and professional best practices."
