HEERF Grant Required Disclosures
1. New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) signed and returned the U.S. Department of Education Recipient's Funding Certification and Agreement, Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The college agreed to use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
2. Total grant funds available to be dispersed: NYCC's Grant Award Notification, dated June 24, 2020, states the college is approved for a total of $110,295.00 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. This is 50% of the expected total CARES funding the College will receive.
3. The total amount of grant funds dispersed: As of July 3, 2020, no grant funds have been dispersed. A student application process, via the student portal, is currently in progress.
UPDATE: As of July 14, 2020, $110,565.00 in Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) grants were dispersed to grant applicants.

4. The estimated total number of NYCC students who may be eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students: 396 individuals.

6.Method used to determine eligible grant recipients: A qualified student applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national; a U.S. permanent resident; or hold a U.S. citizenship status under treaty or territorial agreement and be eligible to receive Title IV Federal Student Aid. The student must have been enrolled in one of the following degree programs; at the time of the President's Proclamation (March 13, 2020), declaring a national emergency due to the COVID-19 outbreak: Doctor of Chiropractic, Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine or Master of Science in Acupuncture. Students matriculating in these academic programs experienced a disruption of studies, due to the transition from in-person classroom to online remote instruction.
To determine an applicant's Title IV Federal Student Aid eligibility, an applicant must have filed a 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 FAFSA form. For HEERF applicants who have not filed a FAFSA for one of these award years, they must file by Wednesday, July 8, 2020 and must meet Title IV eligibility requirements.
The individual student grant award will be determined by the total student grant amount ($110,295.00) divided by the total number of qualified applicants. If all potential applicants apply and meet the qualifications, the minimum individual grant amount will be approximately $280.00 per recipient. Applicants must complete the CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Request and Attestation Statement within the "My Checklist" area of their student portal by Sunday, July 12, 2020.
7. Instructions, directions, or guidance for funding: In order to receive funding, an applicant must meet all requirements of a qualified applicant, have a 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 FAFSA on file, and complete a HEERF Request and Attestation Statement within the "My Checklist" area of the student portal.

This program is a modified extension of the U.S. Department of Education's HEERF (I) program authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The college has agreed disperse the total student allocation under CRRSAA section 314(a)(1).
2. Total grant funds available to be dispersed: NYCC's Grant Award Notification, dated January 19, 2021, states the college is approved for a total "Student Aid Portion" of $110,295.00.
3. The total amount of grant funds dispersed: As of March 31, 2021, no grant funds have been dispersed. A student application process, via the student portal, is currently in progress.
UPDATE: As of April 6, 2021, $110,499.00 in Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) grants were dispersed to qualified grant applicants.
UPDATE: June 11, 2021 no change. Quarter posting is final covering all HEERF II student portion fund expenditures in accordance with the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.

Method used to determine eligible grant recipients: A qualified student applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national; a U.S. permanent resident; or hold a U.S. citizenship status under treaty or territorial agreement. To verify the U.S. citizenship status requirement, the student must have filed a 2020-2021 or 2021-2022 FAFSA form by March 22, 2021. During the winter 2021 trimester, the student must have been enrolled in one of the following degree programs:Doctor of Chiropractic, Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition and Master of Science in Human Anatomy and Physiology Instruction. Most students matriculating in these academic programs are presumed to have experienced COVID-19 pandemic related expenses.
Qualified students requesting funding will receive a grant amount equal to all other NYCC HEERF II recipients, outside of those qualifying to receive "Exceptional Need" funding. The grant amount will be determined by dividing the total student portion of the HEERF II grant allocation ($110,295.00) by the total number of those students requesting funds (455 total potential number of students), net any funds needed to fulfill approved exceptional need requests. If all potential recipients request funding, and no students qualify for additional exceptional need funds, then the per student award will be $243.00 ($110,295.00 / 455). Students who are certified as meeting the criteria for "Exceptional Need" funding will receive an additional $100 to the base award amount previously described.
7. Instructions, directions, or guidance for funding: In order to receive funding, an applicant must meet all requirements of a qualified applicant, have a 2020-2021 or 2021-2022 FAFSA on file, and complete a HEERF Request and Attestation Statement within the "My Checklist" area of the student portal. To be classified as a HEERF grant recipient with COVID-19 related "Exceptional Need", in addition to the previously stated HEERF (II) requirements, a student must appeal and meet exceptional need criteria. Students with approved appeals will receive an additional $100 to the base HEERF grant award. HEERF Request and Attestation Statements, Exceptional Need applications, written student expense statements and supporting documentation (receipts) must be submitted by March 22, 2021.
Exceptional Need criteria:
- Affirm an Exceptional Need appeal and HEERF Request and Attestation Statement on the Student Portal
- As of March 08, 2021, student must have received the maximum amount of Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford loan they are eligible for during the winter 2021 term.
- Student must complete an Exceptional Need application
- Student must submit, to the Director of Financial Aid (drooker@northeastcollege.edu), the Exceptional Need appeal application and supporting documentation (receipts) in excess of $243.00 for COVID-19 pandemic related expenses

1. Northeast College of Health Sciences has agreed to the terms of the March 11, 2021 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) This program is a modified extension of the U.S. Department of Education's HEERF (I) and (II) programs authorized under the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. The college has agreed disperse its total student allocation under ARPA HEERF III.
2. Total grant funds available to be dispersed: NYCC's Grant Award Notification, dated May 20, 2021, states the college is approved for a total "Student Aid Portion" of $228,828.00. SSARP Supplemental Grant awarded July 20, 2022 for $196,018.
3. The total amount of grant funds dispersed: As of June 18, 2021 no grant funds have been dispersed. A student application process, via the student portal, is currently in progress.
UPDATE: As of July 12, 2021, $229,000.00 in HEERF III grants were dispersed to qualified grant applicants.

However, students enrolled in online programs (MSACN and MSHAPI) must also qualify for "Exceptional Need" funding in order to receive any HEERF III funds. Applicants must actively affirm a HEERF III Request and Attestation Statement on their Student Portal.
Students who believe they meet the definition of "Exceptional Need" may also affirm the Exceptional Need Request and Attestation Statement on the Student Portal and receive an additional $100.00 in funding. Online program students must meet the exceptional need definition to receive any HEERF III funding. The United States Department of Education's definition of Exceptional Need states that the student must have "faced significant unexpected expenses or change in financial circumstances, such as loss/reduction of employment income, or food or housing insecurity since the national emergency declaration of March 13, 2020".
Qualified students requesting funding will receive a grant amount equal to all other Northeast College HEERF III recipients, outside of those qualifying to receive "Exceptional Need" funding. The grant amount will be determined by dividing the total student portion of the HEERF III grant allocation ($228,828.00) by the total number of those students requesting funds, net any funds needed to fulfill approved exceptional need requests. If all potential recipients request funding, and no students qualify for additional exceptional need funding, then the per student award will be $580.00 ($228,828.00 / 395).
Students must go to the "My Checklist" area of the Northeast Student Portal to affirm the "HEERF III Request and Attestation Statement", as well as find additional information regarding qualifications for "Exceptional Need" funding. The deadline to apply for all HEERF III grants is July 2, 2021.
