The United States remains a popular study-abroad destination, and Northeast College of Health Sciences knows this firsthand: nearly 20 % of current Northeast College students are from Canada, and many Canadian alumni have returned to their home country to open their practice or join an integrative healthcare center. To best support those students, Northeast offers Canadian students significant financial aid options and student services to provide better access to its doctor of chiropractic degree, as well as other graduate offerings.

Northeast's campuses – the main Seneca Falls Campus in the Finger Lakes region of New York state and its Long Island Campus near New York City -- both offer the College's flagship Doctor of Chiropractic program, and as of Fall 2025 every Canadian applicant is eligible for a 30% tuition scholarship.

College Alumnus Builds Successful Healthcare Centre Near Toronto

Sports and family chiropractor Dr. Stephen Connor, a 1999 graduate of the College, opened Connor Chiropractic & Wellness Centre in a suburb of Toronto just a year later. He now leads a team of healthcare professionals, including a physiotherapist, several massage therapists, a naturopathic doctor and a psychotherapist.

Connor put an extensive amount of research in his search for chiropractic colleges, ultimately leading him to Northeast because of its exceptional reputation for preparing students to write the Canadian board exams. “There was a real push on the science to help you understand why and how you were helping people too,” Connor said.

Northeast On-Campus Living: Super Low Cost & So Many Benefits

Dr. Connor fondly recalls living on the Seneca Falls Campus. “Northeast has a true campus and a true campus vibe," he said. "I remember playing football and basketball on campus and going to the gym or the pool. When you live there and are immersed in it, it’s a really cool experience,” Connor said.

And with the College’s affordable and convenient on-campus housing opportunities, a true immersion in living and learning is possible. Northeast provides housing that allows students to live and learn just steps away from campus and classes, labs, health centers, fitness facilities, libraries and dining centers.

Canadian Alumni Grateful for Knowledgeable, Tight-Knit & Supportive College Community

Northeast’s 2024 Student of the Year Bridget Ivanyi (D.C. ’25) came to the College from Mississauga, Ontario, Can. She quickly became a student leader. A former vice president of Northeast’s Student Government Association, she was also a peer mentor and student ambassador.

“The Northeast community is extremely welcoming and inclusive,” Ivanyi said. “Clubs are led by really talented and outspoken individuals at this school. The people who chose these leadership opportunities have a true passion for what they do.”

Students begin to experience Northeast’s supportive, tight-knit community before they even apply, and that connection continues well beyond graduation. From North Bay, Ontario, Dana Poeta (D.C ‘16) graduated from Western University with degrees in kinesiology before coming to Northeast College. Now she is an independent contractor at Modern Health and Performance in London, Ontario, and has a passion for treating sports injuries of both the spine and extremities. Poeta recalls being fully prepared to practice when she graduated.

“(The College) gave me the foundation to build a career in a field that I am extremely passionate about, she said. “I felt like so many people were there for me and supporting me through the entire process.” The reason she has steered many students to the College, currently five who are now enrolled.

Northeast Partners with Canadian Universities, Ensures Admission, Save Students Time and Money

In addition to the many Canadian alumni who refer students to their alma mater to receive healthcare-focused degrees, Northeast also has a number of official educational partnerships in Canada, including formal agreements with the University of Guelph-Humber, University of Windsor and University of Niagara Falls. These important partnerships let students secure admission into Northeast’s Doctor of Chiropractic program, or online master’s degree programs, and save both time and money. Essentially a roadmap to outline the transfer to Northeast, the agreements ensure a smooth transition and maximize earned credits.
